4 Take the carburetor off the engine and do this: Remove the fuel bowl and clean; Remove float and valve, noting how it was assembled. Inspect float for leaks and float valve head for wear and dirt. Take the fuel bowl holding nut and carefully remove the metering jet for from the center. This jet is most likely clogged.

3 I have a Homelight Bug model HG600 that doesn't stay running for more than a couple seconds. Gas in tank, gas in carb. bowl, starts quickly with a shot of either (starting fluid), but then dies. Any suggestion? desarenpa@hotmail.com

3 Remove the air mixing metering jet from the top of the carburetor and clean. Flush out all fuel inlet fittings (and the float valve fuel inlet hole) in the carburetor casting using carb cleaner. Flush air inlet holes, throttle and choke passages and back flush with air. Reassemble the carburetor.

0 Use a hi-grade carburetor cleaner containing methanol, perchloroethylene and toluene or acetone to soak the jet and dissolve the containments. Blow out with air pressure, using a back-flush method. Do not use a pin to clean this jet as the size is too small. Soften deposits in the remainder of the bowl nut and inlet holes near its base. Back flush with air.

0 Next, turn carburetor upside down and notice where the bowel nut attaches to a long casted stem. Using a thin screw driver remove the main metering jet from the inside of this stem. Repeat all cleaning procedures here too. Back flush with air. NOTE: The metering jet has two metering holes, but there are also two alignment dimples on the sides suggesting more holes. Do not puncture these holes. These are just grip locations used when the metering holes were drilled.

0 Before starting assembly remove filter cap from bottom of fuel shutoff valve and clean screen. Force carb cleaner down tubing connected to the fuel shutoff valve. Move valve to ON, OFF and Choke positions while flushing. Reassemble all components. Prime system in preparation to run.

0 Anyone got a HG600 manual or parts manual they could fax me at waltersg@mindspring.com? call 813-926-4572 first. I'm the guy that gave you the lengthy explanation on how to decontaminate your HG600 fuel system. Most of what I wrote will also apply to your lawnmower too.

0 From bhtfld on www.smokestack.com who says; the HG600's twin is the Yamaha EF600. The parts breakdowns and prices I found at http://www.motorcyclepartscounter.co...7/default.aspx they seem to have pretty good stock. Of course Homelite will not or can't tell us this.
