5 I found this post at http://www.howtomendit.com/answers.php?id=195840. It was a question on winding bobbin for Singer 1030 Creative Touch. Scans of my manual would not help. "The bobbin winder is part of the mechanism where you put the bobbin in, it is self winding, thread the machine up as normal, open the slide plate, push the little red button to the right, wind the thread round the presser foot screw a few times, make sure you have selected straight stitch and presser foot up, press on the foot control slowly and it will wind the bobbin, when it is full close the slide plate and the winder will drop down, pull the threads to the back of the machine ready to sew, if you can't turn the balance wheel make sure there is no thread stuck in the bobbin case area." I also found a site that has some instructions you can view, that look similar to your type machine. I just googled "Singer 1030 Creative Touch Manual, hope this helps...

5 I may have been able to attach the document received if not here's a summary: 1. Raise takeup lever to highest position; 2. Raise presser foot; 3. Set pattern-selector for straight stitching, needle position center, stitch width 0. Winding steps and this is where I messed up: 1. Open slide plate and move bobbin latch to the right...use a little bit of force so that it's almost at a right angle; 2. With the thread in the needle, draw needle thread back between toes of presser foot and around thread retainer (a small screw like device on the left hand side near the needle), start machine running at a moderate speed; (3) Thread end will eventually break from screw like device. Allow the bobbin to fill to whatever amount you need; (4) close slide plate to release bobbin latch to sewing position; (5) pull thread back under presser foot and cut (as it's still one piece of thread) and you should have a loaded bobbin. If you cannot follow these directions, please send me an email: virginiamaus@msn.com. This is the best I can offer.

5 That small wheel sets the thread tension. Set it for the type of thread you usually use and then only adjust it when you are working with a coarser or a finer thread. Mine has been on about a 5 for the life of the machine...I almost always sew with Coats & Clark Mercerized Cotton. (You can get cheaper thread - but if you want your machine to run flawlessly - the better threads will help.) The problem you are describing with skipping stiches and/or wadding up can be related to that tension dial, but is most likely related to your bobbin thread tension. Take the bobbin out and rethread it, make sure there is no lint or stray junk in the bobbin compartment so your bobbin is "floating" properly. (Those cans fo air they make for cleaning computer keyboards are great for this part of your machine - the less you actually touch yourself the better!) Make sure your top thread and bobbin thread are the same weight (preferably from the same spool.) Also - make sure you are sewing with the right sized needle for the fabric...that can cause a problem, too.

3 I lost my manual. Can not get to thread bobbin, look at the owner's manuel online, and just gave information about parts. Not how to work the maching.

3 Does anyone know of this machine has a different than normal sized bobbin? I have plastic and metal bobbins, both of the same size, and both wont fit into the bobbin compartment.

1 The Creative Touch 1030 takes a special bobbin. It has a + shape on the under side to accomidate the self winding feature. You can find them at Sewing Style.com, Pk of 10 for 3.49. Or try your local Vacuum & Sewing Center.

0 I finally contacted Singer and they sent me a scan of the page giving directions for loading the bobbin. The manual is the one for the Singer 1036 which is the same machine. Someone needs to tell me the easiest way to forward the Singer customer support email with the scanned attachment. Or, go to the Singer.com website and customer support.

0 You should be able to save the scanned attachment to your PC. To the Desktop is easiest to find later or where ever you can remember. They probably sent you a PDF file so in order for you to share your scan here you will need to save it as a .jgp, .gif or .png. I have found to do this I can select all in the pdf and paste it into PowerPoint or other photo software and the save it as the file extension you need. You can then share it here by uploading in Product picture. Hope this made sense.

0 In my earlier post today I provided "Member Provided Link" Did you go to that site? I think it may have the same scan you have.

0 Sent a response earlier...I have received a scanned copy of the manual re: bobbin threading, from SingerCompany. One can either go to their website and email their customer service or provide your email address so I can forward the scanned page.
