0 I realize this post is several years old but did you or anyone have an answer?  My Taylor 1487-9 was only used once. I got it out for a cook and when I power it on, the left side has HHH and the right is at 212. After a couple of seconds the thing starts beeping. If I unplug the probe the beeping stops and the left side displays - - -  when I plug the probe back in the HHH reappears and it starts beeping again. 

Any suggestions?
