I have a Bell & Howell 8mm Projector Design 1440; MX43 The take up reel is not turning. How do I fix this?

0 I just opened one up from a customer, and the belt was fine, which was the thing I thought it was, but turns out there is a cam at the rear that connects the driveshaft to the take up reel... at the end of this shaft, there is supposed to be a rubber coated plastic/tapered knob that allows the shaft to engage either side of the split wheel - almost like a split Diff in a rear wheel drive car... when you engage forward, it spins the rear take up, and when you engage rewind, it will engage yet another drive shaft that connects to the top spindle of the supply hub... I don't think you can get this part anymore from B&H - these were last made in 1982 - Thanks
