Cannot reset the clock. After the mains are switch...

Cannot reset the clock. After the mains are switched on, the display flashes 0.00 and then a vertical indication of 'auto' appears on the righthand side of the display ...... then back to 0.00 etc. Operating the push buttons appears to do nothing
