5 If the TV is a 1080p it will change to any setting from 1080p down to 480p, (1080p, 720p, 480p) depending in the output the channel or DVD puts out, but if the actual TV is a 480i it cannot change to 720i-1080i, and isn't designed to be "p" at all. It's strictly an "i" So in short no your "i" can't become a "p"
