5 Check the travel limit switch near the opener for oxidation, a short, or loose wire connections. This will allow the door to run open but fail to tell the opener to run closed on next operation. Next time the door does not respond try jumpering the terminals the wall console is wired to. There could be intermittant operation of the wall button console. They do go bad.
