5 They recommend sae 30 But you can use any that you have left from oilchanges or what ever is on sale at the auto store. Underneath the deck close to the blade spindle there is a square bolt , This will fit a socket wrench with out a socket. Just take out the bolt and drain the oil. Or You can tip the mower over with the oil dip stick out. This is a much easier way to do it, It will drain 95% of the oil the only down side is it will smoke for a minute when you start it again from the oil that gets into the combustion chamber.
