3 you need to take the cover from the speed control, and then the plastic surround inside the switch there you can get to the screws that hold the silver surrounding band then you can unscrew the top section then your in bingo

3 It is the brushes on the motor. I had the same problem and disassembled the top to clean the rotor. I'm thinking of putting up a manual, first want to find replacement brushes

1 How do you take it apart,as i cannot see any obvious way of doing it
