5 If you're even a little bit competent with tools, you can fix this. You can buy a replacement light pull chain switch at Lowes, Home Depot, or any other hardware store. If you want to make sure you get the right one, take the old one with you. Find the breaker that controls the fan and turn it off. Then you can remove the screws that hold the cover on the bottom of the fan, right below where the pull chain comes out. Take the cover off, remove the wire nuts that connect to the light switch, then remove the outside nut that holds the switch tight in the fan, and take the switch with you. Installation is the exact opposite.
