5 Things You'll Need Flat-head screwdriver 3 AAA batteries Step 1 Switch the thermostat to "Off." Open the bottom cover panel. Step 2 Remove the two screws from behind the cover panel with a flat-head screwdriver. Gently grasp the thermostat and pull away the bottom and then pull the thermostat up to unhook it. Turn it around to view its backside. Step 3 Lift the batteries from the compartment one at a time. Start with one of the outside batteries. Step 4 Insert the new batteries into the compartment. Make sure the post of each battery is facing toward the right. Step 5 Reattach the top part of the thermostat to the wall mount. Push the bottom part of the thermostat down to reattach it. Insert and tighten the two screws. Hope this helps:)
