2006 model. Red light when power is on; no green l...

2006 model. Red light when power is on; no green light to show battery charging even though unit plugged in. When I open to insert disc, nothing. Nothing when disc is in place. Won't respond to Play button when pushed manually. Has never been moved - hooked up to flat screen TV. Rechargeable battery problem? Need to be replaced? If so, how?
