My A/C is not cooling down the house like I seem to remember. Do I need to replace any filters? or recharge it? if so, how? Thanks so much

0 Measure air temp change going into & out. If it is between 18-20 degrees F it is doing the best it can. 15 degrees may be acceptable. If airflow is restricted the coil can ice up and not cool. If the refrigerant charge is getting low the evaporator will not get that cold or part of it may ice up. Cleaning the coils is an option, carefully. use flexible brush, vacuum what you can, then mild cleaner, change air filter if it has one. Unless there is a warranty, servicing can exceed the cost to replace.
