5 This sounds like your DVD player does not like to read drives that are in a certain format. Little USB jump drives are usually formatted in what's called "FAT32" or "FAT16," while larger external drives are usually formatted in "NTFS." This means that in order to get your DVD player to read the drive, you would have to use a computer to wipe the drive and re-format it (you would have to back up the information on the drive first). Here is how you can check if it's an NTFS drive: 1. Plug it into a Windows computer 2. Find the drive by clicking your windows menu and selecting "Computer" or "My Computer." It should be listed with your other drives. 3. Right-click the drive and select "Properties." 4. The file system it uses should be listed toward the top of this window (FAT32 or NTFS) If it's NTFS, that will explain it. If you absolutely want to get your player to read the drive, you would have to check if your computer has enough space to back it up, and wipe the drive. The options for formatting the drive are also in the properties window, or, you can right-click it again from "Computer" or "My Computer" again and select "Format." You should select "FAT32" if you format the drive. Keep in kind that formatting DOES ERASE EVERYTHING ON THE DRIVE, so you will want to find a place on your computer where you can copy everything that you want to save, and drag your files there BEFORE formatting.
