5 Never one connection to another is a normally open circuit at a certain rating and the other connection is normal closed circuit... If your going to a four terminal thermostat make sure you put a spade tee connection to the main power wires and the other two terminals check which wires go to the proper terminal ... It's a single throw double throw connection your still really having three connections just make sure the proper wires go to the proper circuits
