my answering machine suddenly stopped playing the message at 4 rings, and now goes to at least 9 rings. How do I set it so the machine picks up at 4 rings? thanks

5 I gave ours to my sister and it was doing this. Turned out that we simply didn't have it 'on'. The little light directly below where it says "New Message" should be lit up. If it isn't press the on/off button and it should light and answer after four rings instead of after 10 that it does if it is in the 'off' mode. The light flashes if there is actually a new message.
