5 Hello! This problem happened to me when I started out. I found I hadn't gone into my camera's settings and worked my way down the menu. I then needed to select the section that turned on the external flash unit (there may be a little picture of a flash gun there to help you) . Hope they now speak to each other and your flash gun flashes as and when you need it to!
