There is metal rubbing against metal on my 5har60 ...

There is metal rubbing against metal on my 5har60 series fan. It seems the stationary inner wmetal wall is rubbing the metal part that rotates. My wife is ready to throw the fan in the garbage, but I'd like to fix it. I see the trouble shooting tips, but they ate vague without any pictures. Can you help me with this issue?
