The salesman told me that model
can't do the transfer in imperial measure.

He said they use the same manual
for different models with similar options.

    Sorry!

The use the same manual for many products with about the same options to
    save on rpinting

I also have a pedometer.....I don't have my receipt either.......I am also having trouble with the conversion if it.......I think if you have trouble with that we should all have an option of getting another one in it's place...it's obvious as you said canada is metric and the usa is imperial.......I think we should be able to choose which version we want

I took it for a refund and bought a good
    quality product with clear instructions.

Before you buy a model read the instructions and try it in the store.

If they don't let you let you try the product, walk out of that store.

This PTfitness pedometer give me a
good lesson. I will remember for the rest of my life!

I will save money and time.

The instruction manual for this product is very poor. Does not tell you how to switch from imperial to metric and the instructions on how to change the time from 24 hour clock to 12 hour is incorrect.

Here is a reply from the distributor about switching between metric and imperial:

The pedometer is actually preset at factory in Metric or Imperial depending on where they are being sold. For Canada it is Metric.

The instructions were made by the manufacturer and intended to serve for both however a very poor English wording (translation) reads as though there is a conversation feature but there is not. These instructions are being corrected now.

the stride is the distance between your left foot's heal to your right foods heal when you walk so walking on the sidewalk throw a puddle at normal walking pace then measure the distance from your left heal to the right heal and their you have the stride

I just bought the pedometer with manual but it does not tell you how to switch from metric to imperial. Only that it is capable of reading either depending on your selection. It just doesn't tell you how to select either and it defaults to metric. Any help would be appreciated.

    Sorry...above "conversation" should read "conversion".

Or you could just learn the metric system. It is the most common measurement system in the world and not hard to understand. Also, considering this pedometer is ridiculously cheap, you can use this one to figure out if you like using a pedometer and then buy a "real" one (higher quality) if you like it. I highly doubt the accuracy of this one anyways.

I just bought this unit on sale at Canadian Tire myself and within a few minutes of setting up realized there is no instructions to convert to imperial - after reading the comments here I realize there is no way period!! What a rip-off!! I'm taking mine back right away.
