when i turn my cold control,which goes from 1-5, a...

when i turn my cold control,which goes from 1-5, and 5 being the coldest,and get around 0 degrees,then turn it to 1or2 the compressor keeps running. In fact it never stops no matter what the temp.Please advise. Need manual.
