5 Remove the air filter and pour a very small amount of gas into the throat of the carburetor. Replace the air filter. Attempt to start the mower. (If you start the mower before replacing the air filter, be very careful replacing the filter while the engine is running. But do not run the engine for long with the air filter removed as this can cause damage to the engine.) If you are afraid to work on the mower, get someone to do it for you.
