When I push the button on my garage door opener the door only opens about 10 inches. When I push the button again the door goes down. What do I have to do to get my door to go up all the way?

5 go inside the garage, and use the disconnect rope to free the door from the closer. next make sure the lock arms are not sticking into the tracks. the symptoms sound like the door is hitting an obstruction and stopping for safety. with the door released from the closer, you can lift up the door by hand and see where it is hitting. It could be a wheel out of place, a bent track, or something else. If all looks ok and door goes up smoothly by hand, check the closer track for problems there are travel adjustments on the closer to adjust the up/down distances. also check safety eyes for something blocking them if they are there.
