My tv won/t turn on unless I apply heat to the on/...

My tv won/t turn on unless I apply heat to the on/off switch.. it takes longer and longer to switch on, I need to keep the heat applied up to almost an hour now before the tv will switch on.. I never had a remote and the universal won't work with the tv.
