5 The Whirlpool Duet Sport Dryer comes with a set of eight error codes used for diagnostics and repair. When the "F-1" error appears on the dryer, you will need to call for service to have parts replaced. Identification The dryer stops mid-cycle, beeps a few times and the "F-1" error flashes across the LCD screen. Press "Start" and "Stop" to temporarily clear the error code. Effects The "F-1" error code means a failure occurred with the electronic controls.. This could mean that wires are broken, the electronics shorted out or a manufacturer's default error shut the washer down. Prevention/Solution The electronic control panel needs replacement. Find your dryer serial number and search for the part online. This is a lengthy job that usually requires a repairman unless you have dealt with and repaired dryers before.
